Paris Fashion Week, Let's Chat

Let's start off with the more disappointing and lackluster shows
I found this YSL, or Saint Laurent Paris, show to be boring, over-styled, and regressive. I was expecting something more minimal and innovative, but the looks presented seemed a little too trendy and overworked. I did however love some of the individual pieces, but as a whole I felt uninspired by the collection.
Balmain is by far one of my favorite fashion houses, so I was sad that I felt there were so many problems with this collection. The main issue I had was with the shoulders. On most occasions I love and overdone shoulder, but these ones were just too big. Maybe for retail they will scale the shoulders down (that is if anyone can drop tens of thousands of dollars on a jacket anyway). I am a big fan of Balmain for the Rock and Roll over-embelishment aspect of the garments. While I did love the classic mini dresses, I found some of the embellished crop tops and pants to be unpleasing.

Now for the ones I loved
This Dries Van Noten show was my favorite of Paris Fashion Week as a whole. Fashion may be moving in a more simple modern direction, but for now this layering, floral, and sartorial feel is perfect. I thought the styling was done perfectly, along with the hair and accesories. I cannot help but say good things about this collection, especially how much I want to own every look.
Many of my peers have said they did not like this collection, they felt it was too all over the place, and that it looked like 4 collection in one. I on the other hand, loved it. One of the highlights for me was the candy wrapper fabric, especially in the closing gowns. I thought the collection was very parisian and kept the classic Dior shapes, yet still was innovative and for lack of a better word super-cute!
While I was not crazy excited by the final few dresses, I did find the skirt shapes and beginning bodice cuts very flattering. In this show I was drawn in by the minimalism at first, as the show took a turn towards more embellishments and different fabrics towards the end. Overall though, I thought the show was successful, and I would be happy to wear any number of the garments.

So there you go, my interpretation of a few of the shows from PFW. As I keep looking through the many different shows I will probably do another review. Let me know if you agree or disagree, because I read every comment!!
